About Us
This is not your typical wedding blog site.
Let me introduce myself, my name is Mark and this is my first attempt at blogging. I’ve been in the computer industry for over 20 years as a programmer but it wasn’t until 1998 that I discovered a passion for photography with the birth of our son Max.
It began as a hobby and it has developed (no pun intended) into a business, but not for the sole purpose of income; that’s why I’ve kept my day job for years. I believe most people can recognize photography that is done strictly for work and photography that is done because the photographer is passionate about what they do. As you will see on this blog and in my portfolio, I became a photographer because I want to capture those moments in time that will be cherished forever.
As I mentioned earlier, this is not a typical wedding blog as it is not limited to just wedding photos. When I started in photography, I focused my attention on sports and some portrait work. It wasn’t until some very good friends (thank you Mike & Lindsay) talked me into shooting their wedding that I discovered two main things: 1) Photographing a wedding is one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done; you have but one day (mere hours) to capture the moments that will last a lifetime for the bride and groom and their families, there are no second chances, 2) Not to be cliché, but it is the most rewarding feeling to see the expression and emotion from the bride & groom when they view the images of their day. It’s a common occurrence to hear from them that the “day just flew by”. It’s my job to capture the images of the day for them to be able look back at a month later, a year later, and hopefully many years later with their kids/grandkids.
Do not assume anyone with the right equipment can capture those special moments, be it a wedding, bar mitzvah, graduation, or even a sporting event. It takes the equipment, the skill, and just as important, the personality to make the images seem “unrehearsed”. I take pride in being unnoticed and out of the way, yet still able to get awesome shots.
A simple piece of advice, whether you choose me or another photographer for your photography needs; take the time to meet with them and make sure you are comfortable with them. It should be the images that initiate a meeting with the photographer and then the personality that makes or breaks the deal (that is true both ways). Although you cannot avoid it, a wedding budget is a major factor for selecting your photographer, just don’t let it be the only factor for the images you will have for a lifetime.
Thank you for taking the time to view my site and please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
Regards,
Mark
